Sheet pan Dinner: Smoked Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage & Vegetables

 What did we ever do for easy, nutritious dinners before sheet pan dinners?? I don't even know, but I love them for their ease!

I made a delicious sheet pan dinner just yesterday, using this Organic Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage I bought at Costco. We've tried other chicken sausage varieties found there, but these True Story brand were far and away our favorite!

You can bake this dinner in your oven, but if you've got a pellet grill/smoker, use that. I roasted ours in our Green Mountain Grills' Jim Bowie with competition blend wood pellets.

What else did I use for this dinner?

  • one pound of frozen broccoli crowns
  • two pounds of purple, red and golden baby potatoes
  • Nutritional Yeast {found by the spices--it is not traditional yeast!}
Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment for easy clean up. If you use foil, spray it with cooking spray. Halve the potatoes and put them on one end of the pan. Put the broccoli on the other end. Spray the potatoes and broccoli with olive oil spray. Sprinkle with sea salt, pepper, and a tablespoon or two of Nutritional Yeast. Lay the sausages in the center of all.

Put the pan in a preheated 400 degree grill/smoker, or oven. Roast for 20 minutes and then flip everything over. Roast for another 20-25 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.

Note: Nutritional Yeast is a seasoning that provides a lot of B-vitamins and some protein. It also gives foods a nutty, cheesy flavor. One of my daughters won't eat broccoli without it!
